Nonprofit Rules & Eligibility

By participating in Give Local, you understand and agree as follows:

  1. Organizations must meet the eligibility criteria at the bottom of this page set by the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound to participate in Give Local.
  2. For online gifts made through the Give Local platform, Mightycause (our platform provider) will automatically email a tax receipt to the donor. Do not issue a separate tax receipt for online donations processed through the Give Local platform, as this may cause donor confusion or result in duplicate documentation.

    For offline gifts:

    • If the gift is sent directly to the Community Foundation, we will issue the tax receipt.

    • If the gift is received directly by a nonprofit and entered into the platform manually, that organization is responsible for issuing the tax receipt. Participating nonprofits are encouraged to thank their donors for all donations, but should only issue tax receipts for offline gifts they receive directly.

  3. All donations through Give Local must be 100% tax deductible; consequently, no goods or services may be exchanged for the gift. Neither your organization nor any person raising funds for your organization can offer any incentive (time, product, or consideration) in exchange for donations made through Give Local.
  4. Give Local is a platform for individuals to donate to nonprofit organizations on their initiative. It is not intended for gifts solicited through other means, such as event sponsorships, meals, banquets, pledge payments, raffle tickets, or membership dues.
  5. Each gift processed through Give Local must be used exclusively for charitable purposes.
  6. Nonprofits in Give Local agree to actions aligned with the mission of the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound. The Give Local platform must not be used for disseminating misinformation, discriminatory, or hateful messages, or maligning the work of other participating nonprofit organizations.
  7. The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound may remove your profile from the Give Local site at its discretion at any time.
  8. All information entered into your Give Local profile must be accurate and correct.
  9. Online donations made to a participating nonprofit will be disbursed via Mightycause Charitable Foundation on November 25 and December 10 by Electronic Funds Transfer. All other remaining funds such as your portion of the Bonus Fund, transaction fee reimbursements, and any gifts processed through the Community Foundation will be disbursed through Chariot on behalf of the Community Foundation no later than December 31, 2026. See more details on our disbursement information page.
  10. Your organization must promptly notify Give Local of any changes in your eligibility requirements on or before December 31, 2026.
  11. The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound charges a non-refundable fee for participation. The Foundation invests more than $35,000 annually in the costs of coordinating, promoting, accounting, and administering Give Local. To help support nonprofits, the pricing structure is based on operating budget with discounts for early registration.
