The Woman's Club of Olympia has been in existence since 1883 and we carry on the legacy of our founding members through community service, education, and volunteering. A donation to our general fund, will support our continuing work and your donation will make a difference in your local community!
Our clubhouse, the Abigail Stuart House, is on the national and local historic registry and has served as a clubhouse since 1908. We rent the house to the community for events, parties, meetings, workshops, dances, birthdays, weddings and family gatherings! In order to meet the expenses of keeping the house open, we must bring in $30,000 per year and this is a difficult task for our 35 members. A donation to our building fund would go a long way to keeping this historical building operating in the community.
We are participating in the Give Local program to supplement what our members have been doing individually for years! We are 35 members strong at this time but it is difficult for us to keep up with the rising costs of operating our house and club. The Give Local program will provide much needed support to help us to continue our mission for the community.
The Abigail Stuart House – A Gathering Place
The Abigail Stuart House, named for our founding President, Abbie Howard Hunt Stuart, was built in 1908. The house serves as a gathering place for The Woman's Club of Olympia's daytime and evening club meetings and has always been a clubhouse. Community events are held here and include weddings, birthday celebrations, end of life celebrations, dances, parties, meetings, workshops, legislative lobby days, political fundraisers and just about any kind of event you can imagine. The upstairs of the house has a full dance studio with mirrors and barres. It would make a great space for a yoga studio, tai chi and exercise workouts, ets. There is also a 1940's style kitchen on the 2nd floor. We love our clubhouse and raise funds by renting it out throughout the year. In order to cover expenses, we need to make $30,000 per year for utilities, insurance, taxes, etc. We powered through the Covid 19 shutdowns and we are asking the public to help us continue to offer this house as a gathering place.
