A tree by itself is vulnerable to the wind. We too need a community to survive and thrive. Here at Wild Grief, we say, “We can go through anything if we don’t have to do it alone.”
In our lifetime, each one of us will live through the death of someone important to us. In those painful, overwhelming, and isolating moments, Wild Grief connects us to each other so we don’t have to carry that weight alone. Wild Grief connects us to nature to find a sense of peace, wonder, and joy that we can return to, throughout our life, when things get hard.
We believe that everyone deserves care and connection when they are grieving, yet free and accessible grief support is difficult to find. In Washington State, 304,000 youth will live through the death of a parent or sibling by age 25. Here in Olympia, we are the only organization offering free peer support for grieving children, teens, and young adults.
Together, we can make sure that more of these grieving children, teens, and young adults don’t have to walk alone. Donate today to join our community of support and care, standing together like a grove of trees to shelter people in the most vulnerable moments in their lives.
Why Support Wild Grief?
Wild Grief’s approach to grief support is unique and transformative. We offer all ages monthly grief walks- both in-person and online, four-day backpacking trips for teens and young adults, multi-generational family campouts, and day hikes throughout the year. We even have culturally responsive hikes in Spanish and for Indigenous and BIPOC families.
From the beginning, we have provided all our programs at no cost, ensuring that anyone—regardless of finances—can participate. Your contributions will help us keep this commitment by covering supplies, gear, food, and transportation, so nobody is left to grieve alone.
We’re proud of how our community has grown, from a small group of determined friends to the thriving ecosystem of 40 trained volunteer guides that help traverse the trail ahead with over 350 community members navigating the complexity of loss. Like a single tree, we can’t stand alone in the current winds of change.
Share our campaign to help us grow our networks of support and care! Thank you.
