$10,000 Goal

It Takes a Community to Support Student Success

At the SPSCC Foundation, we believe in the transformative power of education and the importance of community support. Our goal is to raise $10,000 during Give Local to provide crucial funding for scholarships, emergency grants, and programs and services that help students thrive.

Every day, SPSCC students balance classes, jobs, and family while facing rising costs for housing, food, and transportation. Now, with the threat critical food benefits ending for many, more students are wondering if they’ll need to drop out of college just to make ends meet. Your support is urgently needed to help them stay focused on their education and their goals instead of worrying about paying for their next meal.

Meet Gani

Image of a student wearing a blue jersey with braided black hair sitting on a weight bench in a weight room. Gani came to SPSCC from Alaska as a student athlete. Before college, her goals were to make money and play the sport she loved. She viewed school as something to get through—not something that could change her life. "I saw school as a way to get to play volleyball, and as long as I was passing I could play, so I just focused on doing the bare minimum," she admits.

Everything changed when she discovered the community at SPSCC. Foundation scholarships allowed her to reduce her work hours during volleyball season so she could focus on academics—and her GPA increased significantly. But it wasn't just scholarships. Her coaches pushed her to excel. Her teammates became her support system. Faculty saw her potential and challenged her to reach higher. Tutors helped her master difficult concepts. And when unexpected expenses arose, gas vouchers and emergency support kept her on track.  "Having such a supportive community opened my eyes to the fact that I can have a better life and that education can make that possible," Gani says.

Now a sophomore pursuing a business degree in accounting, Gani has a message to share: "You invest your money without knowing the students who will receive it. And you do it anyway. Knowing I don't have to worry so much about working helps me focus more on school. You may not realize it but knowing that you have my back is a huge inspiration and motivator! Every dollar and donation counts. I hope I can do the same and pay it forward in the future!"

Your contributions directly empower students like Gani to overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and contribute to our local community.

Join us in supporting our students and their dreams. Together, we can make a lasting investment in our community's future.
