2025 marks a significant milestone for the Olympia Waldorf School, our school turns 40 this year! When we look back and hear the stories about the start of the school and the sacrifices many, many individuals have made to keep the school going and/or growing, we reflect on how important this space is and has been to an incredible number of students and families. Deciding to choose an alternative path to education is not an easy endeavor, but when alumni share how this time was some of the best years of their lives and how so much of what happened here is something they carry with them today, we are reminded how important this type of education truly is.

The Olympia Waldorf School is an alternative school in the Waldorf tradition serving children and their families from preK through 8th grade. Situated on 5.6 acres of field, garden, and woodland in rural East Olympia, our campus includes historic Prairie Hall, built in 1914, a modern Middle School building, and a charming Kinderhaus on wooded acreage. Prairie Hall is known as one of the oldest functioning school buildings in the state of Washington. Olympia Waldorf School is Washington state certified, and received accreditation from the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America in January 2012.

This year, our school has a collective fundraising goal of $100,000. This is a lot for our school. Why so much?  In addition to preserving our historic building, improving our current classrooms and providing professional development for our teachers, we have two important purposes that live close to our hearts:

  • Tuition Adjustment, informally known as TA in our community, helps make Waldorf education accessible to more children, ensuring that families from diverse backgrounds can join and remain part of our community. Currently, just under forty percent of our families receive adjusted tuition due to documented financial need.
  • The second facet of need is to support our Campus Expansion plans. We are preparing for the future by growing our facilities to meet the needs of current and future students.

Your gifts are a measure of confidence in this amazing school and a show of gratitude for what OWS is offering to our children. Your generous contribution will help ensure that our school continues to thrive.

Thank you to all who have contributed to our school through all the years. Be it financially, time, energy or heart. Our community wouldn't be the same without your gifts.

With gratitude,

-The OWS Family
