Peace Through Music, Quality Through Inclusion

Who We Are

The Olympia Peace Choir is an inclusive, inter-generational community dedicated to using the power of song to create peace and promote social justice and environmental stewardship. We sing music from a variety of cultures and traditions: folk songs, madrigals, freedom songs, rounds, and pop songs. We are committed to practicing the principles of equality, peace, respect, and cooperation through music--with each other and with our community.

All are welcome to join us; no audition is required. Everyone has something to contribute! Some of us have years of musical experience and training, while others are just beginning to explore their relationship to music. We come together to participate in using song as a powerful tool to change ourselves and our world.

Our Story

We started in 2010 with a small group of singers. Our vision was to create a choir open to anyone in the community who wished to sing. We are now in our 15th season and number over 140 people. We have performed at Olympia Arts Walk, the State Capitol, Olympia City Hall, the Farmers Market, and at Thurston County parks, libraries, churches and senior centers.  Our work has been supported by the City of Olympia through their Inspire Olympia program, and by the Parc Foundation.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

No audition is needed for our two main choirs: The Olympia Peace Choir is a 99-person mixed group of sopranos, altos, tenors and basses/baritones. Treble Voices for Peace is an all-ages, community chorus for sopranos, altos and contraltos, performing primarily music composed by or for women and people who are LBGTQAI2S+.  A smaller choir, The Peace Singers, is open by audition to people who are already choir members; this group serves the community by performing in small venues like senior centers and libraries.

Support Our Work

We ask for your support to continue bringing music to our community. We do not charge for our performances; we offer them as a gift. Most of the work that sustains our organization is done by dedicated volunteers.

Your tax-deductable contribution allows us to rent the venues we perform in and secure the rights to the music we sing. This year we've made it a goal to increase our outreach to the community by offering more free concerts and giving free workshops for aspiring singers.
