This Give Local help OAA put resources directly into the hands of local artists. Your gift helps fund a full cycle of ten $500 Space Grants, low-barrier competitive grants that provide much-needed funds for studio space to creatives in the South Puget Sound.

Olympia Artspace Alliance is participating in Give Local this year to raise funds for our Space Grants Program, which awards ten $500 grants to artists across the South Puget Sound.

Launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic our Space Grants program has grown into an annual resource for local artists. This one-time $500 competitive grant helps artists with the cost of their studio space and helps build local opportunity right here in the South Puget Sound. 

Your contribution helps us grow this unique grant program and puts meaningful support directly into the hands of working artists.

Every contribution helps us invest in Olympia and our arts community. Here's what your gift can make possible:

• $25 - Goes directly toward funding our 2027 grants program

• $500 - Completely funds one artist's Space Grant

• $1,000 - Funds two artist grants

• $5,000 - Funds an entire cycle of Space Grants, supporting ten local artists

All of OAA's Programming create opportunities for local artists in Olympia to connect and grow their work

• Art in Olympia Storefronts, which curates four high-quality art installations in downtown vacant storefronts throughout the year. Selected artists receive stipends for their work and professional support during the install process. We also work directly with teachers to support and share student work every winter.
• Space Grants, our low-barrier grant making program that provides ten $500 grants to local artists (of all mediums) to assist with the cost of studio space. The application requires minimal personal information, a short statement about how the artist hopes to use the funds, and asks for examples of their work. Thanks to secured funding, we will be awarding two rounds of grants in 2026! 
• Our Downtown Olympia Mural Program, an annual open-call for mural ideas that awards stipends to local artists to install their mural downtown. This project has been a past partnership with the PBIA and has installed five murals, and repaired dozens of existing murals and art installations.
• Seasonal artist mingles that provide no-cost opportunities to connect and grow the Downtown Olympia Arts scene at local businesses and venues. 
• Fiscal Sponsorship and support for the Downtown Olympia Creative District think tank. In 2024 our board worked with a local artist to develop branding for our Creative District, hired a skilled artist and facilitator to project manage outreach and engagement, and held a fall convening to imagine what's possible for Olympia. DOCD is now its own organization with a fully formed and developed board and work plan, and we'll provide Fiscal Sponsorship while they continue to grow.
