GRuB

Support our youth as they become leaders in growing our local food system this Spring!
Help us raise $8500 to sponsor this experience for 8 GRuB youth!

***EARLY GIVING BEGINS NOV 2nd with GIVE LOCAL thru Nov 20 at midnight!****

With your support, Youth this Spring will build free backyard & community gardens, empower the community to grow their own food, lead young children on the land at GRuB through field trips, and learn how to grow and prepare meals from the farm for themselves and their community! They will engage more than 200 people in connecting with their local food system! Along this journey, they will grow abundant food for themselves and the community, gain leadership, job, & social emotional skills, connection to the land & community, and more!

This Spring, we are particularly excited to merge our Youth Program and our garden building program (the GRuB Garden Project) and bring back field trips!

• Garden Building: We have witnessed meaningful intergenerational connections form when we bring youth to build free backyard gardens. Up until now, youth would typically go on one build per year. This year, we are maximizing the impact and leadership opportunities by integrating more garden building and involving the youth in teaching the community how to grow food!

• Field Trips: Youth leading young children in a land-based experience on the GRuB farm was an integral part of GRuB Youth Programming in the earlier years. With challenges during the pandemic, field trip programming has significantly decreased. We are bringing it back this year and with it meaningful leadership experiences for GRuB Youth and connections to the land that ignite inspiration for younger children to become future land stewards and food system leaders!

This year, we are celebrating GRuB’s 25th Anniversary! Throughout those 25 years we have provided life changing, trauma-informed land and cohort based programming to more than 650 youth; some of their stories and photos are shared below. Like many nonprofits, we have experienced recent funding challenges through federal and local funding cuts and changes in private foundations. Your support is critical in helping us to continue to provide and expand opportunities for our youth for another 25 years and beyond! Join us in growing our local food system and future leaders!

“GRuB has changed my life for the better. I would be a completely different person without it. I would be less certain of my future and a lot less stable.”— Youth participant
