Concern for Animals is a 45-year-old 501(c) 3 non-profit that helps local people and their pets stay together during difficult times. We help provide food, supplies, and assistance with vet bills in Mason, Thurston, Lewis, and Grays Harbor counties.

Your donations make it possible for us to continue our work, providing much-needed solutions for pet parents experiencing hardship.

Donations are the powerful support that allows us to make sure more kittens are purring, pups are playing, and helps a variety of local pets—from feathered and scaled to hopping friends—receive the care and food they need.

Can you help a local pet in need today?

The mission that drove Ann Albohn and Joyce Pearce to found Concern for Animals in 1980 is the same mission CFA fights for today:

“To assist those struggling financially with pets in need of food, medical care, and spay/neuter procedures, and to promote the welfare of all animals.”

Concern for Animals (CFA) began with a vision to help those who cannot help themselves, and over the years CFA has assisted thousands of animals in need with a variety of veterinary services. Keeping our community safe, healthy, and happy is our priority.

Every year CFA helps hundreds of animals in need.

Here's how we do it:

Concern for Animals focuses on improving people's and pets' welfare in Thurston, Mason, Lewis, and Grays Harbor counties in Washington State. We direct our help towards low-income people who tend to be the most vulnerable and marginalized in our community. This includes senior citizens, people with disabilities, veterans, immigrants, and people impacted by unemployment, domestic violence, and homelessness. We focus on empowering people to responsibly care for the pets they rely on for love, aid, comfort, and protection. We also work with other organizations like Family Education & Support Services, Safeplace Olympia, Senior Services for South Sound, and more.

Our programs include:

  • A weekly pet food & supply bank held at our office as well as a monthly pop-up mobile pet food bank to help assist residents in our service area who may not be able to make it to our office
  • Vouchers for Veterinary Care, Grooming, and Vaccines
  • Programs for Seniors, Individuals Experiencing Domestic Violence, Military Members & Students
  • Improving the lives of pets and lowering the number of shelter-housed animals through spay/neuter initiatives
  • Providing support for animal owners when the community is faced with natural disasters and ensuring the safety of animals and people in the community by actively providing information and education addressing community needs

Your donations make it possible for us to continue our work providing valuable and much needed solutions for pet-parents in crisis situations. They allow us to rescue more kittens, treat more pups, and feed the birds, guinea pigs, bearded lizards, and more that risk going hungry in our shared community.
