Help us get more colors!

For over 25 years, Community Print has been offering letterpress classes and press access to the Olympia community. That changed in 2023, when we bought a Risograph duplicator to add to our repertoire! Now we offer both letterpress AND Risograph printing access, available for members to use after an introductory training class.

Risograph machines, much like letterpresses, come with their own challenges. Think about an old Xerox machine, like the old on you used to fight every day at your 1997 office job. Now throw screenprinting processes into the mix. Risos utilize heavy (and expensive!) drums of ink that have to be changed out to print each new color. Today one drum is on average, about $950. Risograph art is seeing a boom in popularity right now, and the community can't get enough of it. With more demand, more maintenance is required. And also, more colors!

That's where you come in. We need your help! We're planning to get two new colors for our Riso machine (which, as a side note, we've named "Animal" because they love drums...). We have preselected some of our own dream colors, and every donor will get to vote on the colors that bring them the most joy.  A link to the voting poll will be included in the "Thank you" email you receive after donating.

Every little bit helps! Any extra funds will go towards creating a general maintenance kit and a repair fund for Animal. Let's not forget the cost of paper!

Help us take care of our Risograph machine, and in return we can offer the community even more opportunities for creative expression.

Community Print is a member-run, community-supported printmaking studio and creative space operating in downtown Olympia, Washington for over 25 years.

We offer introductory Letterpress and Risograph printing classes, as well as special subject classes on printing, paper, book arts, and more! We work with mostly reclaimed materials, from donated type to paper that was slated for the dumpster. We make beautiful and tangible things in an antiquated fashion.

Completion of a required Intro Class allows anyone to become a Member to access the studio for independent project work.

Community Print relies on funds collected through memberships, classes, fundraisers, craft sales, and donations to maintain an accessible and affordable resource for independent artists of all experience levels. Thank you for your support!
